Gamboa is PCL-Negros head, Novero for Bacolod City

BACOLOD City – Silay City councilor and former ABS-CBN News anchor Ryan Gamboa was elected president of the Philippine Councilors’ League-Negros Occidental (PCL), making him the 15th member of the current Negros Occidental provincial board.

Based on results of the PCL elections held at the Acacia Hotel in Bacolod City late Thursday night, Gamboa won after garnering 179 votes against his opponent, Sagay City Councilor Arthur Christopher Marañon, who got 148 votes.

Gamboa is the son of the late vice governor Roy Gamboa while Marañon is the son of former governor Alfredo Maranon Jr.

La Carlota City Councilor Julius Martin Asistio, meanwhile, was elected as vice president unopposed.

After being elected to the post, Gamboa, a member of Love Negros Team said he hopes all the councilors in the province will unite and work together.

Marañon, who represents the United Negros Alliance, accepted his loss.

Meanwhile Councilor Renecito Novero was elected president of the Philippine Councilors’ League (PCL) – Bacolod City Chapter on Wednesday.

The election, which was followed by an oath-taking ceremony, was held at the Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) Session Hall of the Bacolod City Government Center.

PCL National secretary-general Beethoven Bermejo led the conduct of the election, with the Department of the Interior and Local Government – Bacolod City director Ma. Joy Maredith Madayag acting as PCL’s Commission one Elections officer.
