Global Business Power Corporation (GBP), through subsidiaries Panay Energy Development Corporation (PEDC) and Panay Power Corporation (PPC), joins this year’s Brigada Eskwela kick-off with the theme , ‘’Brigada Eskwela: Tugon sa hamon ng ligtas na balik-aral’’. The program is the Department of Education’s (DepEd) model of public-private-community partnership and considered as one of its most successful brands of community mobilization.
Over the course of the pandemic, for the last 2 years, usual activities of the Brigada Eskwela were halted. Nonetheless, GBP has continuously provided support to the schools by providing aid to their conduct of blended learning activities for students.
“Every year, we look forward to participating in the endeavors of the Brigada Eskwela. We believe in the value that the program brings and the collaboration it fosters among the community for our youth”, said Antonio Cabalhug, Jr., FVP for GBP Panay Operations. “In line with this year’s theme, we aim to provide a safe and conducive learning environment for our students through the provision of materials that can be used for the repair and repainting of school facilities and fixtures”, he added.
In preparation for the resumption of face-to-face classes this August, DepEd’s Brigada Eskwela has called upon the private sector and the local community to provide assistance on the upkeep and repairs of the schools for this purpose.
GBP is a wholly owned subsidiary of Meralco PowerGen (MGen). As a member of the ONE MERALCO Group, GBP is one in powering the good life of the Filipino by being a dependable partner of the government in improving the quality of education of the youth.
