The Gilas Pilipinas girls maintained its undefeated record in the ongoing FIBA Under-18 Women’s Asia Cup SEABA Qualifiers after annihilating Malaysia, 100-68, on May 25, 2024, at the Ratchaburi Gymnasium in Thailand.
After a dominant opening win against the home bets several days ago, the PHL national women’s hoops squad proved to be too much against Malaysia, unleashing another offensive clinic to hike its win-loss record to 2-0.
Gabby Ramos, Gilas’ Filipino-American star, led the charge for the girls after capping off the win with a convincing double-double performance of 29 points and 19 rebounds.
Ramos was on a tear from the get-go, torching the Malaysians with her deep offensive bag while also dominating the shaded lane with her defensive rebounding.
What was the most impressive stat line for the do-it-all superstar was her efficient shooting from the field as she buried 12 of her 18 total attempts in the lopsided win.
It was all Gilas when the official game buzzer sounded as their balanced offensive attack and well-executed scoring schemes worked like magic against Malaysia.
As early as the third quarter, the Filipinas already established a commanding cushion, forcing the Malaysian coaching staff to throw in the white towel at the start of the final frame.
Ava Fajardo joined the Gilas scoring party and backstopped Ramos with a near triple-double performance of 14 markers, eight rebounds, and eight assists.
Meanwhile, the duo of Naomi Panganiban and Ashyln Abong also finished on a high note, providing 13 points apiece for the Gilas women’s U-18 team.
