Globe Expands Connectivity in Iloilo Province

Globe Telecom has built more than 10 new cell sites across Iloilo province in 2024, enhancing digital infrastructure to support the region’s economic growth.

Iloilo posted a 10.5% growth rate in 2023, contributing PHP 215.42 billion to the Western Visayas economy, according to the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA). The province accounted for 15.6% of the region’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP), driven by its robust services sector.

The services sector remains the province’s largest economic contributor at 56.5%, followed by agriculture and fishing at 22.7%, and the industry sector at 28.8%.

Globe’s network expansion aims to bolster these key sectors, particularly wholesale and retail trade, transportation, and financial services, with improved data speeds, better connectivity, and enhanced user experiences.

The new sites extend Globe’s services to both urban and rural areas, bridging connectivity gaps and enabling local businesses to expand their digital reach. This infrastructure also supports seamless communication and online transactions for residents, businesses, and tourists.

“Our network expansion in Iloilo reflects our commitment to empowering communities,” said Patrick Gloria, Globe Vice President for External Affairs. “Improved access to digital services enables local enterprises to unlock new growth opportunities, contributing to Iloilo’s continued economic progress.”

The new towers also cater to the increased demand for reliable connectivity during large events, such as the Dinagyang Festival, which attracts tourists and boosts local businesses.

With Dinagyang expected to draw significant crowds, Globe remains dedicated to driving Iloilo’s digital transformation and ensuring sustained growth for years to come.
