Globe, GoTyme Bank Partner to Fight Cybercrime

Globe and GoTyme Bank have signed a Data Sharing Agreement (DSA) to support fraud investigations and enhance cybersecurity efforts.

The agreement aims to protect consumers and businesses from rising financial crimes by facilitating faster information-sharing between the two organizations.

Globe Chief Information Security Officer Anton Bonifacio and GoTyme Bank Chief Information Security Officer Albert Dela Cruz signed the DSA. Atty. Irish Krystle Salandanan-Almeida and Atty. Mimi Tan, GoTyme Bank’s Chief Legal and Compliance Officer, served as witnesses.

Under the DSA, Globe may share with GoTyme Bank information on mobile numbers potentially linked to fraudulent activities, including names, addresses, and contact details.

Without this agreement, law enforcement agencies or courts would need to issue a warrant or subpoena to access such information, a process that could take months.

Similarly, GoTyme Bank may provide relevant details to Globe to support fraud investigations while ensuring compliance with the Data Privacy Act and the terms of the agreement.

The initiative follows Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas and National Privacy Commission guidelines that encourage collaboration among financial institutions, companies, and telecom providers in fraud prevention.

This partnership strengthens Globe’s commitment to cybersecurity and ongoing efforts to combat spam, phishing, identity theft, and other online crimes.

By sharing critical information, Globe and GoTyme aim to enhance fraud detection, speed up investigations, and implement proactive measures to prevent scams before they affect customers.

“This partnership reflects our ongoing commitment to championing cybersecurity and protecting our customers from growing digital threats. Through collaborations, we can combine expertise and resources to better safeguard the financial sector and our customers from cybercrime,” said Atty. Irish Salandanan-Almeida, Globe’s chief privacy officer.

“We at GoTyme Bank provide not just a simple and seamless banking experience but also a secure and safe service. This DSA with Globe strengthens our cybersecurity measures to protect customers from cybercriminals and fraudsters,” said Albert Dela Cruz, GoTyme Bank’s chief information security officer.

Globe and GoTyme are also working with financial institutions, payment gateway providers, third-party service providers, and law enforcement agencies to share relevant information and conduct fraud investigations in compliance with existing laws.

The DSA is part of Globe’s broader initiative to encourage collaboration with major commercial banks, digital banks, and online retailers.

Globe has previously partnered with the Bankers Association of the Philippines (BAP) and its member banks to establish a direct, round-the-clock communication exchange for faster reporting and handling of spam and fraud cases.
