Globe Renews ISO 45001 Certification Through 2027

Globe has reaffirmed its commitment to workplace safety and employee well-being by renewing its ISO 45001:2018 certification until 2027.

The certification highlights Globe’s dedication to maintaining a robust occupational health and safety (OH&S) management system across all its facilities and operations. Globe has consistently achieved this certification since 2019.

ISO 45001 is an international standard that provides a framework for managing OH&S risks and improving organizational performance. It emphasizes leadership, worker participation, hazard identification, and regulatory compliance, following the Plan-Do-Check-Act methodology.

“Achieving the ISO 45001 recertification is proof of Globe’s commitment to creating a safe and healthy work environment. Our comprehensive OH&S management system ensures that everyone who interacts with Globe can do so confidently, knowing their safety and well-being are prioritized,” said Carlo Puno, Globe’s Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Treasurer, and Chief Risk Officer (CRO).

OH&S Strategy

Globe’s OH&S strategy is anchored on a dedicated Health and Safety policy that complies with the stringent requirements of both ISO 45001 and the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).

A core component of this strategy is the Globe Risk Assessment (GRA) Online Tool, which identifies and documents occupational hazards. Regular risk assessments and surveillance audits ensure the quality and reliability of these procedures.

The company also complies with Republic Act No. 11058, DOLE Department Order No. 198, Series of 2018, and other relevant issuances. Globe has trained Safety Officers (SOs) across its operations to manage hazards and ensure adherence to safety standards.

Safety Training and Wellness Initiatives

All employees are required to complete mandatory Health and Safety training, which covers essential OH&S topics. This focus has significantly reduced workplace incidents, with non-disabling injuries dropping from 84 in 2022 to 48 in 2023.

Globe also offers health programs such as a flu and pneumonia vaccination program for employees, their families, and friends. Participation increased in 2023, benefiting 1,262 employees and 4,794 family members nationwide.

To support mental health, employees have 24/7 access to virtual psychologists through the HopeChat platform. Globe reimburses consultations with licensed psychiatrists and prescribed psychiatric medications.

Promoting a balanced lifestyle, Globe provides on-site gym facilities, 20 G-Clubs, and other wellness activities. The latest addition is a Pickleball court at The Globe Tower, encouraging physical activity and employee engagement.

Globe’s ISO 45001 recertification reflects its continuous effort to enhance workplace safety and well-being, aligning with the company’s values and commitment to its workforce.

This certification reinforces Globe’s role as a leader in workplace safety and innovation in the Philippines.
