Globe Teams Up with PIN, PBDN for Inclusive Workplaces

Globe Telecom has strengthened its commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) by partnering with Project Inclusion Network (PIN) and the Philippine Business and Disability Network (PBDN).

The collaboration aims to create a more inclusive workplace, offering better opportunities for persons with disabilities (PWDs) and embedding inclusivity in the company’s policies, programs, and products.

“Our partnership with Project Inclusion Network and the Philippine Business and Disability Network reflects our dedication to building a workplace where diversity is embraced, and everyone has an opportunity to thrive,” said Renato Jiao, Globe’s Chief Human Resource Officer.

Under the agreement, PIN will help Globe match qualified PWD candidates with relevant job roles, provide disability sensitivity training, and facilitate learning sessions to bolster DEI efforts. The partnership also includes joint research initiatives and contributions to disability literature.

The agreement was formalized at a signing ceremony at The Globe Tower, attended by key representatives, including Jiao and Grant Javier, CEO of PIN and lead convener of PBDN.

Inclusive Product Design

Globe is also committed to enhancing the inclusivity of its products and services, such as the GlobeOne app, to better cater to customers and employees with disabilities.

“We are making changes to the products that customers—both external and internal—will be using. We will ensure to test our products not only with everyday Filipinos but also with the everywhere Filipinos so that their needs are included in our products,” said Denise Haak, Assistant Vice President and Head of Product Design at Globe.

Among these changes are improving color contrasts for people with color blindness and poor vision, incorporating haptic feedback for those with dyslexia, and using closed captioning in video materials.

“To have genuine care and be empathetic to all, we include our differently-abled community in the research and testing of our products to consider their special needs,” said Catherine Hair, Human Factors Manager at Globe.

Fostering an Inclusive Workplace

Globe employees are equally committed to fostering an inclusive work environment, ensuring that all employee experience designs are representative and inclusive at every stage.

“At the center of co-creating experiences with employees is inclusive employee listening. This enables proper representation in every step of the employee experience design loop,” said Mark, Senior Manager for Employee Experience at Globe.

Globe’s partnership with PIN and PBDN is part of its broader commitment to DEI, which it views as essential for driving progress and innovation.

Job Opportunities for PWDs

Globe encourages persons with disabilities to explore inclusive career opportunities through its career site and LinkedIn page. Internal platforms such as ICON and WP also provide resources for employees.

With its continuous efforts to create an inclusive workplace, Globe reinforces its belief that deliberate DEI actions benefit employees, the organization, and society at large.s
