Traffic enforcers deployed to the city’s first “Traffic Discipline Zone” (TDZ) in Senator Benigno Aquino Jr. Avenue or Diversion Road in Mandurriao district were trained on courtesy and decorum when apprehending violators.

Public Safety and Transportation Management Office (PSTMO) head Jeck Conlu said one of the priorities of the traffic personnel is the practice of proper courtesy at all times to prevent road rage.

“Proper courtesy is our priority. It was our first instruction to the traffic enforcers during their lectures and training,” he said on Thursday.

Conlu said they focused on teaching the traffic enforcers proper courtesy after receiving many complaints concerning the behavior of traffic enforcers.

“We received several complaints in our office concerning the manner of apprehension of our traffic enforcers. Sang una indi naton pag i-deny but subong indi na basta-basta kay may mga cellphone na ang pumuluyo. Indi naton gusto ang traffic enforcer naton maging abusador ukon gina-take advantage sang mga violators,” he said.

Col. Winston de Belen, chief of the Regional Highway Patrol Group (HPG) also reminded the traffic enforcers to practice proper behavior and courtesy while doing their job to prevent road rage.

“Remember lang na yung ina-apprehend niyo, sila rin yung pinagsisilbihan natin. Public servant tayo, be courteous. Sabi nga serve with a smile, kahit na nagagalit sila sa atin, ngiti pa rin tayo kasi sila pinagsisilbihan natin,” he said.

The city government designated Diversion Road as the city’s first “Traffic Discipline Zone” where local ordinances and national road laws will be strictly implemented.

Personnel from the Land Transportation Office (LTO), Philippine National Police (PNP), PSTMO and HPG will monitor the area from 6:30 a.m. until 10 p.m.

Conlu said personnel from LTO, PNP, and HPG will patrol the area while PSTMO staff will remain stationary to monitor the drivers, pedestrians, and commuters traversing the area.

Meanwhile, Conlu urged the public to report complaints against traffic enforcers in their office.

Kon may mga reklamo sila, pwede gid sila kakadto sa office sa City Hall and file complaint sa personnel kay ginadisiplina gid na naton,” he said.
