In a move to enhance air travel experiences, the national government is set to invest P12 billion to modernize 13 airports across the Philippines in 2025, according to Makati City Rep. Luis Campos Jr., vice chairperson of the House committee on appropriations.

“Our airports are highly dynamic engines of economic growth and jobs creation, so we are all for increased government spending to further build them up,” Campos stated.

The 2025 National Expenditure Program reveals a significant focus on upgrading airports in the Visayas and Mindanao regions.

“This is most welcome. This gives more substance to the mandate of the Constitution for all regions of the country to be given the optimum opportunity to develop,” Campos added.

Based on the 2025 Aviation Infrastructure Program (AIP) by the Department of Transportation (DOTr), the following airports are slated for upgrades with their respective capital outlays:

  • New Dumaguete Airport (P6.1 billion)
  • Tacloban Airport (P2.3 billion)
  • Busuanga Airport (P1 billion)
  • Laoag International Airport (P750 million)
  • Iloilo International Airport (P645 million)
  • Virac Airport (P280 million)
  • New Manila International Airport (P200 million)
  • Siquijor Airport (P200 million)
  • New Zamboanga International Airport (P130 million)
  • Antique Airport (P125 million)
  • Central Mindanao (M’lang) Airport (P100 million)
  • New Bohol Airport (P90 million)
  • Bukidnon Airport (P50 million)

This P12 billion allocation for 2025 is in addition to the P7.5 billion allocated for 22 airports under the 2024 General Appropriations Law.
