BACOLOD CITY – Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson of Negros Occidental is rallying public support for the “Panaad sa Negros” festival, scheduled for April 15-21, 2024.
Emphasizing local pride, he encourages support for the various local government units (LGUs) participating in the event.
The 28th iteration of the festival, themed “Living a Promise,” promises to be a vibrant showcase at the Panaad Park and Stadium, with cities and towns, including Bacolod, exhibiting their finest products in bespoke pavilions.
The LGUs have been granted a P300,000 subsidy each to enhance their pavilions for the event.
The governor has assured that a roster of engaging activities has been arranged for public enjoyment.
Pre-festival events will kick off with the Lin-ay sang Negros Press Presentation and Talent Competition on April 12, followed by a costume competition on April 14.
The festival’s grand opening on April 15 will begin with morning exhibitions and a dance competition, and will culminate in a concert hosted by the governor, accompanied by a fireworks display.
Other notable festival events include the Governor’s Night on April 18 and the Lin-ay sang Negros pageant night on April 19.
Earlier, Lacson called upon local chief executives to contribute to the festival’s success, hailing it as the “mother of all festivals” in the province. The festivities are being orchestrated by the provincial tourism officer, Cheryl Decena.
