BACOLOD CITY — Police are investigating the death of a Grade 12 student in Barangay 4, Hinigaran, Negros Occidental, on Sunday night, which may have been triggered by an alleged leaked sex video involving a female student.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Eduardo Corpuz, the town police chief, said the 17-year-old victim was sitting on a bench a few meters from his house near the highway when his family heard a noise outside around 9:50 p.m.
Corpuz said the victim was stabbed by two unidentified individuals, but despite his injuries, he managed to return home and sought help from his family.
The victim suffered stab wounds in the chest, neck, left arm, right knee, and right ankle. He was declared dead at the hospital.
“It was a very treacherous attack, considering it was done in a dark area. There was intent to kill,” Corpuz said, adding that the perpetrators may have been waiting for the victim.
Corpuz revealed that police are considering vengeance as a possible motive, following reports that the victim was suspected of spreading an alleged sex video.
Based on their assessment, someone might have sent the video to the victim, though this is not yet conclusive as the investigation is ongoing.
Corpuz stated that they are closely examining this angle to determine if they are on the right track but are not ruling out other possibilities in their investigation.
Police are also seeking witnesses to help confirm the identities of the two suspects, who were captured on a closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera fleeing the scene on a motorcycle.
