BACOLOD City – An 8-year-old boy died of electrocution at Purok Masinadyahon, Barangay Lag-asan, Bago City, Negros Occidental last Monday.

Police withheld the name of the victim, who was a Grade 3 pupil.

Police Master Sergeant Erwin Jamandre, investigator of Bago City Police Station, said the victim probably passed by the area when he got curious and touched the wire that reportedly detached from an improvised electrical pole.

“Wala siya siguro kabalo na live wire, binutong niya kag gin kapyutan siguro out of curiosity kay abi niya basi puwede pa magamit,” Jamandre added.

Jamandre said the Central Negros Electric Cooperative (Ceneco) conducted inspection and discovered that the connection was not installed properly. They suspect that the installers were not from Ceneco, he added.

“Basi sila-sila lang bala nagtakod, amo to na utod kay baliktad,” Jamandre said.

Two bikers aged 14 saw the victim lying on the ground. He was declared dead on arrival at a hospital.
