UNDEFEATED Kaya FC Iloilo was held to a scoreless draw by Green Archers United in the Philippine Football League last July 6, 2019 at the PFF Training Center ib Carmona, Cavite.
It was the first time in the season that KAYA FC did not score a single goal.
In fact, Kaya FC controlled the whole 90 minutes of the match, including numerous attempts from YannickTuason, Jovin Bedic, Marwin Angeles, and Connor Tacagni.
Attempts to penetrate the Archers’ backline in the second half resulted to some chances, but all attacks were hard to finish.
Eric Giganto in the first half nearly lifted Kaya FC with his strike, but it hit the crossbar.
“The difference today is the finishing. It’s not that we were having a hard time creating chances, it’s about the fire and the killer instinct to want to score,” said Noel Marcaida. “We had some chances, especially in the first half that should’ve 100% been converted.”
“We controlled the full 90 minutes in terms of possession. But it doesn’t matter how much control you have, if you don’t score, you can’t win,” he added. “We will have to improve on that.”
Despite the draw, Kaya FC still has 16 points, and still tops the league at number one.
Kaya FC will look to bounce back and will face Ceres Negros on Wednesday, July 10, 2019.
