After almost a year since leaving the PBA to train overseas, Greg Slaughter is now back in the Philippines and is hoping to return to Brgy. Ginebra.

Slaughter surprisingly took an indefinite leave a year ago saying he wanted “self-improvement on and off the court.”

The decorated big man flew to the United States and trained with top-class basketball agency DME Sports Facility under Gary Boyson.

However, things did not fall into place as what Slaughter expected after he had the chance to set things straight with San Miguel president Ramon S. Ang and Sports Director Alfrancis Chua.

“My only regret is that the communication between myself and management, particularly Boss RSA and Coach Al Francis Chua, did not go as smoothly as I would have wanted,” Slaughter posted on his Instagram account.

Months after his intensive training with DME Sports and quarantine levels eased down amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Slaughter decided to go home to the Philippines and arrange things for his PBA return.

“I want to apologize to them and the rest of management for any misunderstanding or bad feelings that may have occurred because of my decision. My only wish now for the coming year is to leave that in the past and have the opportunity to suit up again for the best fans in the world,” Slaughter continued in his lengthy Instagram post.

The first pick during the 2013 PBA draft is still hoping to reunite with Ginebra and vowed to be available whenever coach Tim Cone and the rest of the management calls up his number.

“I have learned so much this past year and I am excited to show everyone that the next phase of my career will be the best one yet,” added Slaughter.
