GSIS offers emergency loan for typhoon victims

The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) has extended its emergency loan program to assist members and pensioners affected by Typhoon Enteng, providing much-needed financial relief in calamity-declared areas.

The initiative is part of GSIS’s ongoing efforts to support those impacted by various natural disasters.

The loan program, already activated in several areas affected by the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) and Typhoon Carina, will continue to be offered in the coming weeks.

Members and pensioners residing or working in areas declared under a state of calamity are eligible to apply once their respective areas are listed.

This includes several provinces and cities with application deadlines ranging from October 25 to November 21, 2024, such as Oriental Mindoro, Batangas, Rizal, Bulacan, and Pampanga.

Eligible members can borrow up to PHP 40,000 if they have an existing emergency loan balance, with a net maximum of PHP 20,000.

Those without prior balances can apply for a loan of up to PHP 20,000 at a low interest rate of 6% per annum, payable over three years.

“This is part of our commitment to support our members and pensioners during difficult times, ensuring they have financial assistance available when they need it most,” GSIS said in a statement.

Members can apply for the loan through the GSIS Touch mobile app or via the GSIS Wireless Automated Processing System (GWAPS) kiosks located in government offices, malls, and GSIS branches nationwide.

For further inquiries, members can visit the GSIS website or reach out through GSIS’s contact centers.
