The province of Guimaras marked the culmination of the 34th Civil Registration Month (CRM) on February 29, 2024, with a vibrant array of contests including Poster Making, Binalaybay, and a Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS) Jingle Dance entitled “Masasagot.”
These contests, featuring elementary to senior high students from various public schools across Guimaras, brought life and color to the festivities.
Schools from Buenavista, Jordan, Nueva Valencia, San Lorenzo, and Sibunag Municipalities actively engaged in the celebrations, showcasing the rich talent among the youth.
“The Binalaybay Contest, which focused on this year’s theme ‘CRVS: The Future of Seamless Services’, was an exhibit of our senior high students’ deep understanding of the importance of efficient civil registration services,” said Provincial Statistics Officer Nelida B. Losare.
High schoolers demonstrated their creativity in the CRVS Jingle Dance, while elementary students displayed their artistry in poster making.
Kate Gabbriele Daraug from Dr. Catalino Gallego Nava Memorial High School won the Binalaybay contest, with Leira Janine L. Gange and Ian G. Aguilar clinching the second and third places, respectively.
The CRVS Jingle Dance saw Getulio National High School in the top spot, followed by Desiderio C. Gange National High School and Nueva Valencia National High School.
In the poster-making contest, Gershom Igonia, Glaiza Gueen D. Igaras, and Aaliyah Padernal emerged victorious, securing the first three positions correspondingly.
Cash prizes were awarded to the winners, with PHP3,000, PHP2,000, and PHP1,500 for the top three in the jingle dance and PHP2,000, PHP1,500, and PHP1,000 for the Binalaybay and poster-making contests. Additionally, consolation prizes were also given.
Losare applauded the Municipal Civil Registrars (MCRs) of Guimaras for their exceptional efforts in the successful execution of various CRM activities, which included opening and closing ceremonies, quiz bees, mass weddings, and mobile registrations.
In her closing remarks, Losare reiterated the PSA’s dedication to efficient civil registration and acknowledged the significance of the month’s events in promoting the understanding of civil registration, in line with the CRVS decade goal.
She expressed optimism about reaching the goal of ensuring that everyone is registered and possesses a birth certificate by the end of 2024, citing the critical role of BCRS data processing in identifying unregistered individuals for free mobile registration.
