Guimaras honors 4Ps model families and exemplary children

The Province of Guimaras celebrated outstanding beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) during a recognition event held on June 24, 2024, at the Cresente P. Chavez Central School.

The event highlighted exemplary families and children who have excelled in meeting the program’s objectives and contributing to their communities.

Quenny Joy Asgar, a Grade 8 student from Dr. Catalino G. Nava Memorial High School, emerged as the top candidate in the Search for Exemplary Children, surpassing four other contenders from various municipalities.

Asgar, who will represent Guimaras in the regional competition of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), also received several minor awards, including Best in Interview, Best in Production Number, Best in Documentation, and Darling of the Crowd.

She was awarded a total cash prize of Php 12,500 from the Provincial Government of Guimaras, DSWD, and Governor JC Rahman A. Nava.

Denise Chezka Gajo from Sibunag was named first runner-up, winning Php 8,000 and the Best in Talent award. Ackerleigh Olexie Panaguiton from Nueva Valencia took second runner-up with a prize of Php 6,000.

Rice Irish Lacar from Buenavista and Kyle Gabriel Enrique from Jordan each received Php 3,000 as consolation prizes.

Celebrating Model Families

The family of Freddie and Mary Joy Jallores from Buenavista was honored as the 2024 Huwarang Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino, receiving Php 7,000.

The Escarpe family from San Lorenzo and the Tinas family from Nueva Valencia were recognized as first and second runners-up, receiving Php 5,500 and Php 4,500 respectively.

The Cordero family from Sibunag and the Estilloro family from Jordan each received Php 4,000 as consolation prizes.

Governor JC Rahman A. Nava commended the DSWD and other stakeholders for their efforts in recognizing the achievements of 4Ps beneficiaries. He emphasized the significant impact of the program on meeting the needs of poor families, especially their children.

“May impact sa aton pamilya nga benipisyaryo, ilabi na gid sa ila mga kabataan. Ini siguro nagapamatu-od nga ang ini nga programa yara na nasabat ang kinahanglanon sang aton nga mga pamilya ilabi na gid sa pagsabat sang kinahanglanon sang aton kabataan,” Governor Nava stated.

Governor Nava also highlighted his role in defending the 4Ps budget during his tenure in Congress, underscoring his personal connection and commitment to the program.

“Malapit ini nga programa sa akon kay sang pag-umpisa niya scale up, ako natabu-an nga nag-sponsor ni sa Kongreso sang budget niya. Dumdom ko gani sang una daw punggan gid nila. Pero eventually nakita ko nga year by year, naga-amat-amat realize man ang iban nga ara sa gobyerno kag gin-embrace nila ang ini nga programa,” he shared.
