The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA)-Guimaras Provincial Statistical Office successfully completed the Labor Force Survey (LFS) for March 2024, surpassing its target by interviewing 53 households (HHs), achieving 110.42% of its goal.
Provincial Statistics Officer Nelida B. Losare announced that 48 pre-identified households were originally slated to be surveyed across three Enumeration Areas (EAs), covering three barangays.
The survey expanded to include an additional five households from Barangays Hoskyn, San Roque, and Maabay.
From March 9 to 27, PSA-Guimaras’ Statistical Researchers meticulously gathered data from residents aged five and older.
Adjustments to the survey were made for households that could not be located or had moved, ensuring the integrity of the survey data.
The LFS is critical for assessing the current labor market, informing national and provincial employment rates, and aiding in the creation of policies influencing the labor market.
Losare emphasized the survey’s importance, noting that it collects data on employment, unemployment, and underemployment, as well as demographic and socio-economic details of the workforce, which are vital for labor welfare and the market-based economy.
She also expressed gratitude towards participating households for their contributions and ensured confidentiality of the data collected, which she clarified, “will be used solely as a reference for the levels and trends of employment and shall not be used for taxation, investigation, or regulation,” in accordance with Article 55 of Republic Act 10625.
