Guimaras now ready for National Statistics Month

PSC Guimaras conducts its third quarter virtual meeting on September 13, 2021

The Guimaras Provincial Statistics Committee (PSC) has set some activities for the 32nd National Statistics Month (NSM) through Resolution No. 7 series of 2021 during the PSC 3rd Quarter Virtual Meeting on September 13, 2021.

“Provincial Offices and Local Government Units (LGUs) are enjoined to support the month-long celebration of the 32nd NSM in the province,”according to Provincial Statistics Officer of PSA Guimaras and Co-chairperson of PSC Guimaras Nelida B. Losare.

The activities for the month-long celebration include the 32nd NSM online opening ceremony on October 1(joining the national opening); the capacity development training on “Infographics: IDeA of Data Visualization (IDeA= Insights, Design and the Art) for PSCGuimaras member agencies on October 5-7to be conducted by the PSC Guimaras partner institution, the West Visayas State University.

“Online exhibits of infographics training outputs of PSC Guimaras members on the 2nd to 4th week of October to be displayed at the 32nd NSM-GuimarasFacebook page and NSIC Facebook page of Guimaras province; KaathagansaEstadistika and Provincial Data Expo on the 3rd week of October; Infographics making contest for Senior High School students and the e-poster making contest for Jr. High School students on the fourth week of October; Tree Planting, and Agency-in-House activities were also among the activities designed for the 32nd NSM celebration,” Losare said.

“The Closing and Awarding Ceremony will be on October 29 which will be done via online platform to acknowledge the support of PSC member agencies and the Private sectors and to award the winners of various contests,” she added.

Losaresaidthis year’s celebration is themed “NSM@32: Revving up for Economic and Social Recovery through Evidence-Based Policies (NSM@32:Pag-arangkadaPadulongsa Pang-sosyalkag Pang-ekonomiyangaPagbangonPaagisamgaPagsulundanngaNasandigsaEbidensya).”

The theme highlights the importance of statistics as evidence-based for policy decisions to address the socio-economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, that by using relevant statistics for solid evidence-based decision-making will guide and support the nation’s efforts in finding the way towards socioeconomic recovery despite the pandemic.

“The 32nd NSM Celebration alignswith Presidential Proclamation No. 647, Declaring the Month of October of Every Year as the National Statistics Month, the NSM is annually observed nationwide, which aims to promote, enhance, and instill awareness and appreciation of the importance and value of statistics to the different sectors of the society,”Losare said

“Likewise, it aims to elicit the cooperation and support of the general public in upgrading the quality and standards of statistics in the country.”

Losareemphasized thatthe objectives of the month-long celebration will be achieved amidst the COVD-19 pandemic through the successful conduct of the designed calendar of activitiesvia an onlineplatform in collaboration with the PSC member agencies, LGUs, and education institutions.
