Guimaras’ Players’ Center Sports Academy (PCSA) and the West Visayas State University Sports division, all headed by Dr. Richard Gabayoyo, will be organizing an online sports talk show via Zoom every Sunday, 7 PM.

With the main goal of getting the recognition Guimaras star athletes deserve, Dr. Gabayoyo thought of the idea and said that some of the players who already got outside the province and played in Manila aren’t familiar to most of the Ilonggos and Guimarasnons.

“With the help of the Players’ Center Sports Academy and the WVSU Sports team, we will be introducing to you some of the accomplished athletes that were born and raised in Guimaras because they should get the attention and recognition like some of the Ilonggo athletes,” said Dr. Gabayoyo in an exclusive interview with the Daily Guardian.

For this Sunday, July 26, 2020, the sports talk show will be inviting one of the most celebrated basketball players in Western Visayas, Peejay Barua.

Barua was a former member of the legendary De La Salle Green Archers squad together with James Mangahas, JV Casio, and Rico Maierhofer.

The 6’5’’ center also had stints with the PBL, PBA D-League, and currently is a part of the roster of the Quezon City Capitals in the MPBL.

Barua is a native of Nueva Valencia, Guimaras and is excited to talk about his roots and meet his fans from all over Western Visayas on Sunday.

Barua finished his elementary years in Nueva Valencia Central School, was a student of the Nueva Valencia National High School and finished his next two years of high school in the University of Iloilo.
