The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA)-Guimaras Provincial Statistical Office has successfully registered 51.51% of its 2024 target for the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys), registering 5,543 individuals from January to June.

“We extend our deepest appreciation to the general public for their unwavering support for the implementation of PhilSys in Guimaras,” said Provincial Statistics Officer Nelida B. Losare.

“PSA field offices like ours in Guimaras are still exerting all efforts to ensure coverage of Filipinos who have not yet registered.”

To reach Geographically-Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas (GIDAs), PSA personnel utilized motorcycles to navigate rough roads and motorboats to cross islands for PhilSys mobile registration.

Losare explained that initiatives such as house-to-house registration under “PhilSys on wheels” were crucial for residents who lack the financial means or time to visit the Fixed Registration Center (FRC).

“I believe that this is also a big help, especially for those parents with unregistered children ages 1-4 years old,” Losare said.

PSA personnel faced various challenges, including enduring the scorching summer heat and navigating muddy roads during the rainy season while carrying registration kits.

These efforts were essential in ensuring that unregistered individuals in Guimaras, including Indigenous Peoples (IPs), could become PhilSys-registered.

“The efforts likewise allowed unregistered individuals in Guimaras, including Indigenous Peoples, to become PhilSys-registered,” Losare emphasized.

In addition to these initiatives, PSA Guimaras continued its ePhilIDs issuance and distribution operations. From January to June 2024, a total of 1,931 ePhilIDs were delivered, providing valid proof of identity while waiting for the physical PhilID card.

“All these efforts of PSA Guimaras towards the implementation of PhilSys underscore their commitment to ensuring that all registered individuals have access to reliable and secure National ID services across the province,” Losare concluded. (PSA-Guimaras)
