Guimaras Registers Over 9,500 National IDs in 2024

1. PhilSys on Wheels: Making National IDs accessible to Sitio Ipil, Igcawavan, San Lorenzo, Guimaras.

The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Guimaras Provincial Statistical Office registered 9,571 individuals under the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) in 2024, achieving 53.02% of its 18,050 target.

“There was a shortfall in the provincial target despite efforts to ensure all residents were included. Weather conditions, health and safety concerns, and scheduling conflicts affected our operations,” Provincial Statistics Officer Nelida B. Losare said.

The program successfully registered 168 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and 2,662 children aged 0-4, highlighting its inclusivity across demographics.

“The PSA Guimaras has successfully registered 9,571 individuals, marking a milestone in our National ID campaign. We are especially proud to include 168 OFWs and 2,660 young children, ensuring broad coverage of this essential identification system,” Losare added.

2. Bringing PhilSys to Your Doorstep: House-to-house registration in Cabungahan, San Lorenzo, Guimaras, on Nov. 23, 2024.

The registration drive recorded significant participation across Guimaras municipalities.

Jordan, the province’s capital, led with 2,656 registrants, peaking in October with 556 individuals. Buenavista followed with 2,313 registrants, with high turnout in June (694), April (412), and May (445). San Lorenzo recorded 1,901 registrations, while Nueva Valencia and Sibunag registered 1,597 and 1,104 individuals, respectively.

“Reaching diverse groups such as OFWs and children demonstrates the comprehensive nature of this campaign,” Losare said.

She emphasized the importance of ensuring all Filipinos, regardless of age or location, are included in the National ID system.

“Registering 168 OFWs and children aged 0-4 highlights our commitment to leaving no one behind,” Losare said.

With more than half of its goal achieved, PSA Guimaras plans to intensify efforts in 2025. Fixed registration centers and mobile teams will target remote and underserved areas.

Losare expressed gratitude to the team and encouraged continued dedication.

“We remain committed to ensuring all Guimaras residents, including those in remote areas, have access to the National ID system,” she said.

“The PSA Guimaras will continue its registration efforts through walk-in centers and mobile teams to reach every corner of the province,” she added.
