Guimaras hoops fans, are you ready?

The Guimaras’ Players’ Center Sports Academy, headed by founder West Visayas State University’s (WVSU) Sports Director Dr. Richard Gabayoyo, confirmed that they will be bringing the first face-to-face basketball event this year.

Following the return of contact sports in provinces under the COVID-19 Alert System Level 2, the Players’ Center Sports Academy will be organizing a Slam Dunk competition on November 20, 2021.

Main organizer Dr. Gabayoyo stated that those who can participate in the tournament are only those who are fully vaccinated.

Also, the amiable sports figure proudly said that the event will be conducted face-to-face but will only shoulder 50% of the venue’s capacity.

Under the alert level system, indoor sporting activities will only be allowed up to 50% capacity while outdoor sporting activities up to 70%.

Registration for the event is still ongoing and players who wish to join and showcase their hops may directly message Players’ Center Sports’ Facebook page.

“We are happy that after a long period of time that face-to-face events were absent, we are finally here. We would like to thank the Provincial Government of Guimaras for giving us the green light to hold this event and also the Municipal Government of Nueva Valencia,” said Dr. Gabayoyo in an exclusive interview with the Daily Guardian.
