GUIMARAS Governor Samuel T. Gumarin, executive secretary to the governor Giosaldo Dicen, and provincial sports consultant Richard Gabayoyo will host a fundraising street volleyball tournament on Aug 18, 2019, at Salvacion Elementary School, Buenavista.
The purpose of the tournament is to urge every Guimarasnon to rise again from the Iloilo Strait tragedy that claimed 31 lives.
The tournament is also a fundraising project for the unsung heroes of Guimaras during the Iloilo Straight tragedy, especially the crews and porters of the motorbancas.
Due to the stoppage of the motor banca trips, these men are heavily affected financially and emotionally.
The proceeds of the event will be forwarded to the provincial government for distribution to the recipients.
Aside from the provincial government, Guimarasnon coaches and some athletes will also donate canned goods and other necessities.
The registration fee per team will be P200 pesos, and team compositions will be a minimum of three to a maximum of five players.
“No one knows about this fundraising even some of my fellow Guimarasnons. They need to help those affected for us to rise again,” Gabayoyo said.
