Guimaras unveils modern outpatient care facility

The Province of Guimaras unveiled the Dr. Catalino Gallego Nava Provincial Hospital – Outpatient Care Center on May 22, 2023 in conjunction with the celebration of the province’s 31st provincehood anniversary.

The three-storey facility was designed by top-notch architectural firm John Ryan Santos + Partners that is based in Quezon City.

Governor JC Rahman A. Nava, MD said that the construction of the Outpatient Care Center is part of his aspiration to improve healthcare in the Province of Guimaras.

He added that the construction of additional facilities at DCGNPH is part of the three phases of the development plan of the Provincial Government of Guimaras for hospitals in the island.

He said DCGNPH will also be upgraded to a Level 2 hospital and the renovation of the Nueva Valencia District Hospital will follow to improve the ability to provide primary healthcare while the Buenavista Emergency Hospital will be converted to a Level 1 hospital.

A new building for the Provincial Health Office is set to be built while the current PHO building will be demolished and replaced with an additional facility for the DCGNPH.

Governor Nava bares that the Provincial Government managed to come up with a Php 155 million fund that is ready to be utilized for the improvements intended to provide quality healthcare services for Guimarasnons.

The money came from donations from Senators Edgardo Angara and Juan Miguel Zubiri facilitated by Congresswoman Ma. Lucille Nava and allocation from the Provincial Government of Guimaras.

Providing responsive health care and social welfare and development services is one of the important components of Kabataan FIRST agenda of Governor Nava for the next three years.

“I want to make sure that we provide the best healthcare possible here in Guimaras not only for our constituency especially as we promote Guimaras as a big tourism destination,” Governor Nava emphasized.

The Local Chief Executive disclosed that John Ryan Santos + Partners headed by its principal architect John Ryan Santos, gave their design and services for free to the Province of Guimaras.

Architect Santos said that the DCGNPH Outpatient Care Facility is the culmination of his 20-year career in healthcare design as their firm only focuses on designing healthcare facilities.

“Nang tinanong kami ni Governor how can we participate, wala pong pag-aatubili sa amin ni Pauline. We will donate the design. We want to be part of this. We want to be able to contribute. Ako personally, this is a culmination of the 20 years of my career in healthcare design. Please rest assured that whatever you need from hereon forward sa provincial hospital, we are here to help you,” Santos assured.

Congresswoman Nava said that the construction of the facility “is a fulfillment actually of our promise to our people to deliver the best and quality medical services that we could offer in for them not to go to Iloilo”.

She said that this is a continuation of the vision and fulfillment of the promise of his father-in-law, Dr. Catalino Gallego Nava.

The establishment of the Outpatient Care Center is a fitting tribute to the considered father of Guimaras provincehood, Dr. Catalino Gallego Nava, according to Vice Governor Atty. John Edward G. Gando.

There is no other better way honoring the man than to do our efforts to provide the Guimarasnons the best health services through the establishment of DCGNPH Outpatient Care Center,” Atty. Gando said.

Dr. Inocencio Lopez, DCGNPH’s OIC Chief of Hospital, considers the construction of the aforementioned facility as an exceptional milestone in their commitment to provide quality healthcare services to Guimarasnons.

“The Outpatient Care Center stands as a testament to our unwavering dedication to delivering accessible and patient-centered care to those in need. This state-of-the-art facility has been meticulously designed to cater the unique requirements of our outpatient public equipped with the latest medical advancements, cutting edge technology and a team of highly skilled healthcare professionals,” according to Dr. Lopez.

Dr. Lopez believes that the facility will serve as a beacon of hope and healing for the patients and likewise act as a catalyst for change, enabling them to provide compassionate care and unparalleled medical services to their patients.
