Guimaras Wins Best LGU for Statistics Again

The Province of Guimaras has been recognized once again as the Best Local Government Unit Advocate for Statistics, underscoring its commitment to data-driven governance and statistics advocacy.

The award was presented to Guimaras during the 35th National Statistics Month (NSM) Awards, held virtually on Oct. 29, 2024. Guimaras previously received this honor in 2023.

This back-to-back recognition highlights Guimaras as a model for other LGUs seeking to harness the power of statistics to enhance governance, improve public services, and support economic planning and social programs.

Former National Statistics Coordination Board Secretary General Dr. Romulo A. Virola congratulated Governor JC Rahman A. Nava, M.D., for this achievement under his leadership.

“Hats off to Governor Nava for his sustained interest in statistics,” Virola said.

The Philippine Statistics Authority established this award to recognize LGUs that excel in promoting and using statistical data for local development.

Guimaras was distinguished for its consistent integration of statistics in policy-making, development programs, and public awareness campaigns.

The province’s initiatives include community-based data gathering, capacity-building workshops, and partnerships that support informed decision-making.

This approach fosters transparency and enables sustainable development tailored to the unique needs of Guimaras communities.

The NSM Awards, established in 2002, recognize the outstanding participation of government agencies, regional offices, youth, and private sector participants in the annual National Statistics Month celebration.
