Guimarasnons’ cooperation key to a strong ECQ takeoff – GPPO

The Guimaras Police Provincial Office is at the forefront of the implementation of the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) in the island province which remains free of COVID-19.

The implementation of the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) to stop the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Guimaras was off to a good start.

Guimaras Police Provincial Office (GPPO) OIC Provincial Director Col. Pablito B. Asmod Jr. said that the first day of the implementation of the ECQ in the island was ”impressive.”

The province was placed under ECQ beginning April 15, 2020 pursuant to Executive Order No. 43 issued by Governor Samuel T. Gumarin.

The GPPO has not received any report of violation in relation to EO No. 43, an indication that Guimarasnons are disciplined citizens, according to Asmod.

The local police force believes that the support of the community is the key to strengthen the province’s resolve to remain COVID-free.

“The first day implementation of Enhanced Community Quarantine was quite impressive. Guimaras PNP had not received any report of violation to the Provincial Government’s EO 43 which simply means that the people of Guimaras are disciplined, law abiding and are one with their local leaders, law enforcers and public safety providers on its resolve in maintaining a COVID-free Guimaras island,” Asmod said.

Col. Asmod added that the cooperation of the Guimarasnons will sustain the proper implementation of the Enhanced Community Quarantine in the island.

The GPPO chief assured the people of Guimaras of quality service in keeping the peace and order in the island province.

Governor Samuel T. Gumarin lauded the effort of the Provincial Joint Task Group Coronavirus Shield composed of the men in uniform, in ensuring the smooth implementation of the ECQ in the province.

Nagapasalamat gid kita sa aton kapulisan kag sa mga partners naton nga nagabulig sa aton. Bululigan naton ini. Amligan naton aton probinsiya batok sa COVID-19,” Gumarin said.

As to date, Guimaras is the only province in Western Visayas that has no confirmed cases of COVID-19.
