A firearm raid in Barangay Libot, Calinog, Iloilo, led to the recovery of illegal drugs worth PHP816,000 in addition to an unlicensed gun.
Police raided the house of a suspect identified as alias Janilo around 5:48 a.m. on Feb. 10 after receiving reports that he was brandishing a firearm at a relative’s wake near his residence.
Witnesses claimed Janilo displayed the firearm even while playing card games at the wake.
Major Myles Dieron, Calinog police chief, said the reports prompted them to apply for a search warrant.
Judge Gemalyn Faunillo-Tarol of the Regional Trial Court Branch 76 in Janiuay, Iloilo, issued the search warrant on Feb. 5.
During the operation, police seized a break-type 12-gauge shotgun with three rounds of ammunition and a sling bag containing a sachet of suspected shabu.
Dieron said the suspected shabu weighed approximately 120 grams with an estimated value of PHP816,000.
The suspect was not listed as a known drug personality, but authorities had received reports of his alleged association with individuals involved in the illegal drug trade.
Janilo has not provided any statement regarding the seized firearm and drugs.
The suspect is facing charges for violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
