A former seafarer was arrested after police recovered several firearms and ammunition during a raid at his house in San Enrique, Iloilo, on the morning of Feb. 24.
Police identified the suspect as “Jerald,” 43, a resident of Angeles St., Barangay Poblacion Ilawod, San Enrique. He claimed to be the son of a retired policeman.
The operation was conducted by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG)-Iloilo Provincial Field Unit, in coordination with the San Enrique Municipal Police Station, the PNP 62nd Special Action Force, the Regional Intelligence Unit 6, the Provincial Intelligence Team-Guimaras, and the Special Boat Unit of the 4th Special Operations Unit (SOU) of the PNP Maritime Group.
Police raided Jerald’s house based on Search Warrant No. 25-274 for violations of Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act) and RA 9516 (Illegal Possession of Explosives). The warrant was issued by Judge Vicente Go of Regional Trial Court Branch 68 in PD Monfort, Dumangas, Iloilo, on Feb. 21, 2025.
Authorities seized the following firearms:
-A .38-caliber revolver without a serial number
-A .45-caliber pistol (serial number 1807008)
-An Intratec 9mm submachine gun/pistol with a suppressor
-A 5.56mm-caliber pistol
Also recovered were magazines for a .45-caliber pistol and a 9mm submachine gun, along with ammunition for a .45-caliber pistol, a 9mm submachine gun, a .38-caliber revolver, a 5.56mm pistol, a 12-gauge shotgun, and a .357-caliber revolver.
Police also confiscated a live round of M203 (40mm grenade) ammunition.
Authorities have yet to determine why Jerald was in possession of the firearms and ammunition.
The suspect is now in police custody pending the filing of appropriate charges.
