Police seized firearms and a grenade during a search operation in La Paz, Iloilo City, early morning of May 2.
The targets of the raid were brothers Joemari, 22, and Mario, 25, both residents of Barangay Nabitasan, La Paz.
Joemari was arrested, while Mario managed to evade capture.
The operation was conducted at 3:30 a.m. Friday by personnel from the Iloilo City Police Office – City Intelligence Unit (ICPO-CIU), Iloilo City Mobile Force Company (ICMFC), ICPO’s CECU, and Police Station 2.
The search followed complaints that the brothers were involved in threats and allegedly brandished firearms.
Reports indicated that the suspects were accused of gun poking in the area.
The operation was carried out under Search Warrant No. SW31-08-2025 issued by Judge Cyril Regalado-Regalado of Regional Trial Court Branch 31 in Iloilo City.
Recovered from the scene were an M26 hand grenade, a caliber .38 revolver without a serial number loaded with six bullets, and a caliber .45 Colt pistol (serial number 311734) with a magazine containing four rounds.
Both suspects will face charges for violating Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, and Republic Act 9516, or the Illegal Possession of Explosives law.
