ROXAS CITY, Capiz – Local officials of Capiz led by Gov. Esteban Evan Nonoy Contreras, joined hands with the different municipal mayors including Roxas City, to fight the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.

P100,000 was given to each municipality, including Roxas City, as help to strengthen the fight of the frontliners.

The governor distributed the checks together with League of the Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP)-Capiz chapter president and Mambusao Mayor Leodegario Labao Jr. on Thursday and Friday.

Labao was designated by the governor as focal person of the Inter-Local Government Unit on COVD-19.

The funds were taken from the quick response fund of the province’s calamity funds.

Contreras also pledged to give P5,000 each to all 473 villages of Capiz as augmentation funds for the barangay frontliners.

Contreras also announced additional P1 million to each of the 16 towns of Capiz and Roxas City as augmentation to the calamity aid or relief assistance to residents.

He said the additional financial assistance will be released next week.

“Let us forget politics. We should unite to fight this crisis. We don’t know our enemies here because it’s a pandemic,” the governor said.
