Fifty percent of Iloilo City’s 180 barangays have been successfully integrated into the city’s Electronic Business One-Stop Shop (eBOSS) system, according to the Local Economic Development and Investment Promotion Office (LEDIPO).
LEDIPO head Velma Jane Lao stated that this achievement marks the full digitalization or automation of the city’s Business Processing and Licensing Systems.
“There is no need to visit the barangay to get a business permit; applicants can directly go to City Hall or apply via the online system,” she said.
Lao also noted that since the system is an end-to-end business permit and licensing solution, the city government can issue electronic tax bills, Fire Safety Inspection Certificate fees, and Barangay Clearance fees, and accept various payment methods beyond cash.
The eBOSS system simplifies the process of applying for business licenses and permits by providing a unified online platform for processing applications, receiving payments, and issuing licenses, clearances, and permits, ensuring a quicker and contactless process for local businesses.
On August 22, the city government was commended by the Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA) for its full compliance with the eBOSS system.
The commendation plaque and eBOSS compliance seal were accepted by Norman Tabud of the Iloilo City Business Permit and Licensing Division.
Lao remarked that the citation is a testament to the city government’s commitment to promoting ease of doing business and efficient government service delivery.
The local government units of Himamaylan City in Negros Occidental and Pavia in Iloilo were also recently recognized by ARTA for establishing a fully streamlined and digitalized eBOSS.
In 2021, all local government units were mandated to set up an eBOSS following the issuance of a Joint Memorandum Circular by ARTA and three other key agencies.
