Data on vital statistics released by the Philippine Statistics Authority disclosed that on the average, 98.70% of live births in Guimaras were attended at birth by health professionals with 1,999 out of 2,028 (98.57%) live births at place of occurrence and 2,718 out of 2,751 (98.80%) live births at the usual residence of mother.
Traditional birth attendants however, attended at birth 10 babies at the place of occurrence and 13 at the usual residence of the mother.
Only Sibunag has 100 percent live births attended at birth by Health Professionals on both at the place of occurrence and usual residence of mother while Jordan and Nueva Valencia has 99.42 percent and 99.28 percent of live births attended at birth by Health Professionals.

San Lorenzo however, recorded the least percentage of births attended by Health Professionals at 93.15 percent, of which, 58.97 percent were live births attended at birth by place of occurrence and 96.26 percent were by usual residence of mother.
Guimaras province registered 4,779 live births in 2018 translating to about 13 babies born every day.
More babies were born at the usual residence of the mother recorded at 2,751 (57.56%) than the place of occurrence posted at 2,028 (42.22%), same scenario in all the municipalities of the province except for Jordan municipality, which registered the most number of live births at the place of occurrence totaled at 1,565 accounted 70.09 percent of its total live births.
Moreover, Buenavista and Nueva Valencia shared 20.30 percent with 970 live births and 14.61 percent or 698 live births, respectively, with registered live births mostly occurred at the usual residence of mother.
