Every Friday to Sunday from 7am to 2pm, at South Point, SM City Iloilo, market vendors from Iloilo Terminal Market and Central Market as well as farmers from SM Foundation’s KSK program will set up shop to bring you the freshest farm to table vegetables and fruits, plants and flowers.
The Weekend Market offers fresh produce and fruits in season, flowers and plants grown by local farmers.
The Iloilo City Government and SM City Iloilo works hand in hand for this initiative in order to help the vendors from the Iloilo Central Market and Terminal Market bring their produce to the shoppers of the mall.
SM Foundation Inc.’s Kabalikat Sa Kabuhayan(SMFI-KSK) farmer graduates also makes their harvested products available for customers to avail. Since 2020, SM Foundation has helped 28,500 local farmers from different municipalities nationwide by equipping them with modern and sustainable farming skills.
Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas has expressed support to local farmers and the vendors of the two major markets.
“We are excited to showcase the incredible products and flavors that our city has to offer, and we are grateful for the support of SM in making this event possible.
This collaboration demonstrates the power of public and private partnerships in creating remarkable experiences for our community. By working together, we can achieve greater things and bring more opportunities to our people,”Treñas said.
The Weekend Market helps the vendors of the Iloilo Terminal and Central Markets and farmer graduates of SMFI-KSK, by providing them with a high-traffic location to display and market their products to shoppers, employees, and tenants.
The Iloilo City Government and SM Prime have set out to redevelop the markets into more modern structures with sustainable features that are people and environmentally friendly. The public can look forward to clean and spacious retail areas, comfort rooms, more parking spaces, as well as effective water and drainage systems, to name a few.
Everyone is encouraged to support the Weekend Market at SM City Iloilo, as this is one of the many initiatives set up to support the local vendors introduce and sell their products.
