Barely a month after a successful Tokyo Olympics campaign, Hidilyn Diaz is set to leave for her training camp in Malaysia next month for the World Championships.

The prestigious international weightlifting tournament is scheduled for November in Peru and the Filipina gem is eager to have positive results and carry on the momentum.

Samahang Weightlifting ng Pilipinas (SWP) president Monico Puentevella confirmed the development during the Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA) Forum.

“She is going back to Malaysia, September 20, may balak na silang bumalik sa Malaysia para talagang training for the World Championship in November in Peru. Gusto nilang mag-medalya doon,” said Puentevella.

According to Puentevella, Diaz will be accompanied by her coach Julius Naranjo when training camp begins in Malaysia.

Diaz has some unfinished business in the World Championships stage after clinching the bronze medal last 2019 in Pattaya, Thailand.

The decorated Filipina weightlifter is hoping to improve her scores in the clean and jerk category and is seeking to add another international gold medal.
