Hotel101-Niseko first in Niseko tosSecure prestigious CASBEE Certification

Hotel101-Niseko has made history by becoming the first project in the entire Niseko region of Hokkaido, Japan, to receive the highly coveted Comprehensive Assessment System for Built Environment Efficiency (CASBEE) certification.

The announcement was made on August 9, 2024, marking a significant milestone in the hotel’s journey to set new standards in sustainable hospitality.

CASBEE is a Japanese certification system renowned for evaluating and rating the environmental performance of buildings, focusing on sustainability and efficiency.

The achievement of this certification by Hotel101-Niseko highlights the project’s commitment to eco-friendly practices and elevates the green sustainability standards in the entire Niseko region.

Hotel101 Global, a subsidiary of DoubleDragon, is driving this initiative as part of its broader mission to ensure that all its projects worldwide are constructed and operated with the highest environmental and sustainability standards.

The company’s vision is to establish Hotel101 as one of the most, if not the most, “green” and sustainable Filipino hotel chains globally.

“We believe that sustainability is a core aspect of the Hotel101 brand which will enable it to thrive in a rapidly changing world. By integrating a sustainable mindset in the way that we build our hotels as well as sustainable practices in our day-to-day hotel operations, we protect the environment, appeal to the new generation of eco-conscious guests, and reduce operational costs which helps ensure the long-term viability of Hotel101,” said Hotel101 Global CEO Hannah Yulo-Luccini.

Located on a 1.17-hectare site in Niseko-Hirafu, Hokkaido Prefecture, Hotel101-Niseko is poised to become a beacon of sustainable development.

The hotel has been designed with green-inspired architecture and employs advanced technologies that promote efficient and eco-friendly operations.

The project was developed in partnership with esteemed engineering firms Kamita Sekkei and Technocrew, and the construction was managed by Iwata Chizaki Inc., a contractor known for its work on the iconic Chitose International Airport.

“In extraordinary environments such as the height of winter in Hokkaido, it is not an easy endeavor to achieve a green rating and we are proud to announce that Hotel101-Niseko is set to be the first CASBEE-rated hotel in Niseko,” Yulo-Luccini added.

Hotel101-Niseko is designed to not only meet but exceed local and international environmental standards, aligning with the sustainability values of its guests. The hotel is strategically positioned amid Niseko’s stunning natural scenery, further emphasizing its commitment to environmental preservation.

“With the upcoming Bullet Train to go straight from Tokyo to Niseko, we see the 482-room Hotel101-Niseko project, which is set to be one of the largest hotels in Niseko, soon becoming the top-of-mind hotel destination for both local domestic Japanese and overseas tourists visiting Niseko, Hokkaido Japan,” said DoubleDragon Chairman Edgar Injap Sia II.

“We see Hotel101 Global to be known globally as one of the most eco-friendly hotels globally,” Sia II added.

This milestone not only underlines Hotel101-Niseko’s role as a leader in green hospitality but also sets a new benchmark for sustainable hotel development in Japan and beyond.
