The Houston Rockets just posted its longest winning streak of the NBA regular season so far after annihilating the Washington Wizards, 137-114, in an inter-conference showdown on March 20, 2024.
Fresh off a one-sided win against the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Rockets showed no signs of slowing down after dominating the Wizards in all facets of the game.
It was still a nip-and-tuck affair as the Wizards were able to hold off the Rockets in the first half with their tight half-court defensive sets and only trailed by three points heading into the third quarter.
However, Jalen Green and the rest of the Rockets snowballed their way in the third frame, outscoring the Wizards 41-25, to build a commanding cushion.
Despite Jared Butler’s solid night for the Wizards, the Rockets still owned them in the final 12 minutes of the game led by the high-flying Green who schooled Washington with his wide array of offensive moves.
After the lopsided victory, Green capped off another Houston win with a top-scoring performance of 42 big points derived from an efficient 12/21 shooting from the field.
Aside from his superb offensive outing, the athletic shooting guard also grabbed 10 rebounds and tallied three assists, one steal, and a block.
Backstopping Green in their win against the Wizards was rookie small forward Amen Thompson who chipped in 25 points built from a 10/12 shooting from the field.
Despite the absence of superstar center Alperen Sengun who is still dealing with a right ankle sprain, the Rockets were still able to pull off the win and are aiming for their seventh straight victory on March 22, 2024, as they take on the Chicago Bulls.
On the other hand, the Wizards suffered their fifth straight defeat and are yet to re-enter the NBA winning column in two weeks.
Their last win was against the Miami Heat last March 11, 2024. After that, Washington began its disappointing losing streak and is aiming to clinch a confidence-boosting victory on March 22, 2024, against the Sacramento Kings.
