This year’s cultural competition featured five Hubons, each representing a town in Guimaras, including Hubon Palayag of Buenavista and Hubon Bulantihan of Jordan.
Held on Sunday, May 19, the event marked a vibrant showcase of Guimaras’ unique cultural identity.
Each Hubon presented their interpretations of the island’s history, local customs, folklore, and artistry.
Governor JC Rahman Nava emphasized the importance of this year’s change in schedule, giving the competition a special night rather than the last day of the month-long celebration.
He noted that this change aims to spotlight the island’s diverse culture and heritage.
Also present during the event were Congresswoman Ma. Lucille Nava, municipal mayors, and other key officials.
The Guimaras Manggahan Festival is renowned for celebrating the island’s famed mangoes alongside its cultural events. The cultural competition remains a key highlight, drawing participants and spectators from across the region and showcasing the diverse talents and traditions of Guimaras.
