If Brigadier General Rolando Miranda would have his way, he would like to hang his boots at the Police Regional Office (PRO)-6, his home for the past eight months.
Miranda, Western Visayas police director, will reach the mandatory retirement age in November 2021.
But months ahead of his retirement, reports surfaced that he might take on another post.
“There’s no truth to it. I wasn’t informed that I would be relieved. Wala namang sinabi sa akin,” Miranda rebutted.
Miranda has been visiting police offices in the region. Some insinuated that it could be his way of visiting the troops before he leaves his office.
But Miranda clarified that these were normal visits, as he deviated from the formal “command visit.”
“If I do command visit, gagastos lang sila. I want to avoid that. Gusto ko ‘yung mga impromptu visits so that I would know the real situation on the ground,” he said.
On Monday, Miranda visited the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) headquarters at Camp Sumagaysay in Sta. Barbara, Iloilo.
Over the weekend, he went to the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) at Camp Achilles Plagata headquarters.
He had also been to Aklan Police Provincial Office headquarters at Camp Pastor Martelino in Kalibo, Aklan and to Capiz PPO headquarters in Camp Apil, Roxas City.
On Tuesday, he will be at Guimaras Police Provincial Office in Jordan town.
Miranda said that he sees no problem if he would be indeed relieved from his post.
“Kung papalitan ako, it’s up to our appointing authority. Masaya na ako na naging RD (regional director ako. Although, I would hope to retire here,” he said.
Miranda succeeded Brigadier General Rene Pamuspusan in December 2020.
