The Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) welcomed the new year with a renewed commitment to serve the Ilonggo community better, underscored by the turnover of new equipment and resources.
During the New Year’s Call and Command Conference with Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas, ICPO reaffirmed its dedication to excellence in public service.
The highlight of the event was the ceremonial turnover of 80 Taurus T4 caliber 5.56 assault rifles, 250 Motorola handheld radios, and three patrol vehicles.
Col. Kim Legada, Iloilo City police chief, expressed gratitude to the Iloilo City Government for its continued support in enhancing the police force’s operational capacity.
“This will give us more reason to commit ourselves to excellence in public service,” Legada said.
He added that the new equipment would boost ICPO’s mobility and efficiency in addressing the safety and security needs of the community.
“The Iloilo City Government’s continued support reflects its strong partnership with the police force. These resources will greatly empower our personnel to perform their duties with utmost dedication and professionalism,” he said.
Mayor Treñas noted that the three patrol vehicles are part of the 16 requested by ICPO last year.
“For the remaining 13 patrol cars, we will do our best to deliver them by the second quarter of this year,” Treñas said.
The mayor emphasized the importance of these resources as the city prepares for the Dinagyang Festival 2025.
Meanwhile, Treñas awarded certificates of commendation to the best-performing police stations in terms of illegal drug operations.
The commendations were given to:
- Iloilo City Police Station 1 (for September and October);
- Iloilo City Police Station 10 (for November); and
- Iloilo City Police Station 2 (for December).
The City Drug Enforcement Unit was also recognized for its achievements, while Col. Legada received praise for his leadership in supervising the ICPO’s men and women.
