The Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) has once again urged the public to be responsible when sharing information online.
In a statement, the ICPO warned that unverified reports could cause unnecessary panic.
The advisory comes after a rehashed report about an alleged kidnapping incident in Jaro district circulated online.
Col. Kim Legada, Iloilo City police chief, said authorities conducted a thorough investigation and found no evidence supporting the claim.
“Our findings confirm that no such incident occurred,” Legada said.
“While we assure the public that there is no verified case of kidnapping, we strongly encourage everyone to remain vigilant and cautious in their daily activities,” he added.
Legada emphasized that safety is a shared responsibility and that taking preventive measures is essential.
He advised parents to closely monitor their children, educate them about safety precautions, and remind them not to engage with strangers.
Children are also encouraged to stay in groups and report any suspicious individuals or activities to authorities immediately.
Legada reaffirmed the ICPO’s commitment to ensuring public safety.
“We continue to conduct regular patrols and strengthen our coordination with barangays and communities,” he said.
He also urged the public to report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station or through the ICPO hotline.

Meanwhile, the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) has also released a statement dismissing reports of kidnapping incidents in Pavia, Dumangas, and Sta. Barbara as false.
