World no. 1 female tennis player Iga Swiatek moved to the third round of the ongoing Wimbledon Grand Slam tournament after sweeping Sara Sorribes Tormo of Spain- 6.2, 6.0- last July 5, 2023.

With the win, the Polish tennis ace just continued her streak of sweeping matches in the preliminary round after also scoring a 2-0 victory over Zhu Lin of China during her first-round matchup on the grass court surface.

The key was consistency for Swiatek. Despite getting bombarded by heavy forehand hits by Tormo in the first round, the Polish champion remained unfazed and scored tons of receiving winners to suck the life out of the Spanish participant.

Swiatek was all over the court chasing the placement balls thrown by Tormo and later on switched to her offensive attack when the latter got cold with her blazing groundstrokes.

It was a calm opening set for Swiatek as the recently crowned French Open queen had a slow service start and had difficulty navigating to the court as Tormo always returned the ball with power.

Swiatek patiently waited for her turn and played defensive tennis until reaching the score of 5-2 when she scored back-to-back down-the-line hits to fully gain momentum in the match.

It was a different approach in the second set as Swiatek switched gears and double her aggressiveness to start the frame.

From her signature baseline attacks to her serve-and-volley plays, Swiatek was just hitting from all cylinders to notch another dominant victory in her bid for a fifth Grand Slam title.

The 22-year-old sensation is still looking for her first-ever championship title on grass and was a more dominant player on the clay court, proof is her three trophies in the French Open.
