The management of Iloilo Electric Cooperative II (ILECO II) said it would monetarily compensate the family of a man who got electrocuted after he touched a dangling wire.
The ILECO II management took responsibility for what happened to 23-year-old Richie Mendoza of Dumangas, Iloilo.
Jose Redmond Eric Roquios, ILECO II general manager, told Aksyon Radyo that they are responsible for what happened.
“Ga-negotiate kami, i-full compensate gid namon ang pamilya. Gina-negosyar namon sa subong nga ma-settle na lang kay disgrasya gid. Gina-take sang ILECO II ang responsibility sa natabo,” Roquios said.
Roquios said the cooperative has a budget intended for incidents caused by the hazardous nature of their work.
Police accounts claimed that Mendoza just came from work in a fishpond around 2:30 p.m. of Oct. 18.
When he reached their house at Sitio Maoy, Brgy Sulangan, Dumangas, he saw a dangling electric wire in front of their gate.
The victim tried to fix the sagging wire but got electrocuted.
He was rushed to Ramon Duremdes District Hospital in Dumangas town but was pronounced dead on arrival.
In the past months, several persons were reported to have died in Iloilo province after touching dangling electric wiring.
