ROXAS CITY, Capiz – Alleged Illegal logs were confiscated by authorities on Sunday at Brgy. Cala-agus in Mambusao, Capiz.
The Mambusao police and the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO) reported that the logs were loaded on a van driven by Joemil Bayo, also of Mambusao.
The logs were allegedly owned by Bernardo Ponce, a village official of Brgy. Pinay of the said town.
When asked by the authorities, the van drivers failed to present logging permits for the cut trees. Custody of the logs has been turned over to MENRO.
Charges for violation of Presidential Decree No. 705 (Revised Forestry Code of the Philippines) were filed against Ponce and Bayo.
