Illegal Lumber Seized in Bacolod City

BACOLOD CITY—A Mitsubishi Fuso truck carrying 2,113.4342 board feet of Mahogany and Yemane lumber was apprehended in Barangay Tangub, Bacolod City, on April 20, 2024, for transporting without the necessary permit.

The operation was conducted by the Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) Bago’s Monitoring and Enforcement Section, through its Surveillance and Intel Unit, in coordination with the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG)-Bacolod City Field Unit.

The lack of a transport permit violates Section 77 of the Presidential Decree No. 705 as amended by Executive Order No. 277, series of 1987. The individuals involved were taken into custody by the CIDG and face potential fines, penalties, and possibly imprisonment.

The operation is part of ongoing efforts to combat illegal forest activities in the region. (DENR-6)
