The Iloilo provincial government urged local businesses to comply with the Safety Seal Certification Program to curb the spread of coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
A press release said Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr. met with business owners on July 28, 2021 along with concerned government agencies via Zoom to guide businesses and establishments in enhancing workplace safety.
The governor said there is a need to ensure the safety of workers to break the chain of COVID-19 transmission from workplaces to households.
“Our A4, the economic frontliners, are the ones going out. They use public transportation, circulate and gather with people in the workplace. That is constant. That is something we cannot prevent,” Defensor said.
“Data will show us that transmission is happening in workplaces. And then they transmit to household. So we really just have to regulate as much as possible,” he added.
The Safety Seal affirms that an establishment has been inspected by the government and was found compliant with the minimum public health standards. It also encourages the adoption of the StaySafe.ph digital contact tracing application to strengthen the government’s contact tracing initiative.
The program covers all private business establishments, selected public places, and government offices.
In relation, Defensor has issued a memorandum dated July 23 enjoining establishments, work places and offices to strictly observe minimum public health standards through compliance with the Safety Seal Certification Program.
Furthermore, the governor appealed to the business owners to encourage their employees to practice reverse isolation when going home to protect the vulnerable members of their family.
Those who go out on a daily basis for work or business should wear masks, use separate utensils and isolate themselves, among others, when at home.
“Let us help in the campaign of this reverse isolation to your employees so we can work on the positivity from the workplaces up to the households,” Defensor said.
