All regular employees of the Iloilo City Government are set to receive a four percent salary increase starting with their August payroll this year.

The City Council unanimously approved the city’s Supplemental Budget No. 2 during its regular session on Wednesday, August 28.

The budget includes provisions for an across-the-board salary increase.

The supplemental budget allocates ₱411,355,313.50 for the general fund and its special accounts, including the Local Economic Enterprise Office.

Of the total budget, the City Budget Office allocated approximately ₱19 million for the salary increase of over 2,000 regular employees of the city government.

City Budget Officer Viminale Capulso explained that the wage hike is in accordance with Executive Order (EO) No. 64, issued by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on August 2.

EO 64 provides for an increase in the salaries of government workers and authorizes the grant of an additional allowance to state employees.

“This salary increase will be implemented in four tranches. This year, we are implementing the first tranche, which is a four percent increase across the board for all permanent employees of the city government,” Capulso explained.

According to EO 64, the first of the four tranches of the salary increase took effect on August 2. The second, third, and fourth tranches will begin on the same date from 2025 to 2027.

Earlier in April, the City Council approved the city’s first supplemental budget for the current fiscal year, amounting to ₱452 million.
