The eight-story legislative building of the Iloilo City government is 90 percent complete, with final construction targeted for the first quarter of 2025, according to the City Engineer’s Office.
Architect Regina Gregorio said the remaining work includes the installation of three elevators.
“There’s just a delay in the elevators because we requested a change due to our experience with the City Hall elevators. We wanted something reliable, especially in terms of after-sales service,” Gregorio said.
She explained that the request to change the elevator brand caused a delay in shipment.
Once the elevators are installed, the commissioning of electricity and water systems will follow.
Gregorio added that the first three floors are expected to be occupied first, with a bridge connecting the third floor of the new building to Iloilo City Hall.
The building, with a total floor area of approximately 4,320 square meters, is designed to house the offices of the Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP), the SP secretariat, conference rooms, a session hall, and an auditorium with seating for over 250 people.
The ground floor will feature a cafeteria and will serve as the location for the Office of the Building Official.
Construction of the PHP 246.89 million facility began in October 2021 and is funded by the city’s general fund from 2017 and 2019.
