In the spirit of Christmas, Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas has expressed a heartfelt wish for unity among Ilonggos, emphasizing that collective effort is key to the city’s continued progress.

“I appeal to everyone to let us continue to be united because if we are united, we can do miracles for our city,” Treñas said in a video message.

The mayor highlighted how Iloilo City has evolved into a model for good governance and innovative practices.

“Just look at our city. It’s completely different now. Every week, local government units come here to see what we’ve accomplished and how they might replicate it,” he said.

He credited this recognition to the city’s advancements in infrastructure, public spaces, and governance.

Treñas also reflected on the recent CityNet conference in Manila, where Iloilo City received praise from local and international leaders for its achievements.

“They were impressed by what we’ve done—our roads, markets, and plazas. Even in Indonesia, their mayor expressed interest in replicating some of our projects. Iloilo City has become a model,” he added.

Adding to the holiday cheer, the Iloilo City government launched its Christmas music video on December 18, celebrating the cherished Ilonggo tradition of “salo-salo.”

Salo-salo is a festive gathering where Filipino families and loved ones come together to share meals, stories, and joy.

“This symbolizes the spirit of sharing, unity, and love during the holiday season. It is through these moments of connection and celebration that the magic of the season truly comes alive, creating lasting memories and strengthening bonds that endure beyond the festivities,” the city government said.
