Iloilo City Police Tighten Holiday Security

The Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) has heightened its security preparations for the holiday season and pre-Dinagyang activities.

Colonel Kim Legada, Iloilo City police chief, said police stations have been directed to ensure round-the-clock visibility and patrols in critical areas.

Legada said the plans anticipate an influx of people for the holiday rush, Simbang Gabi, downtown shopping, and major events, including the Iloilo Provincial Government’s Opening of Lights at the Capitol, the Iloilo City Government’s Calle Real Night Market, and the highly anticipated Pamukaw for Dinagyang Festival 2025.

“Our commitment is anchored on ensuring a safe and secure environment for all Ilonggos as they celebrate this joyous season,” Legada said.

The police chief urged the public to remain cautious, avoid overcrowded areas, and report suspicious individuals or activities to the nearest officer or police station.

“The influx of shoppers and churchgoers is an opportune time for thieves to carry out their activities. That’s why we urge the public to remain vigilant and security-conscious,” he added.

Legada stressed that public awareness would enhance ICPO’s efforts to maintain peace and order.

ICPO also reminded commuters and motorists to exercise patience, as traffic congestion is expected during these events.

“Coordination with traffic enforcers and the use of alternative routes are encouraged to ease the flow of vehicles,” Legada said.

For emergencies and assistance, the public may contact the ICPO hotline numbers 0908-377-0194 and 335-0299 or visit the nearest city police station.
